Emerald exhibits at eLearning Africa 2009 Following the success of last year’s eLearning Event in Accra, Ghana, Emerald is once again sponsoring the conference. Eric Broug (Business Manager – Africa) from Emerald will also be attending. Along with exhibiting, Paul Coyne (Principal Consultant) from Emerald will be speaking on the subject of Open Educational Resources (OER). The Open movement has attracted a lot support in recent years; it is a movement with much to commend it. However, there are aspects of OER which invite closer inspection so that the nature and the demands of subscribing to open resources can be better understood and evaluated from an organizational perspective. In his session Paul will introduce the different aspects of the Open movement and invite the audience to share their experiences in order to establish the role of OER in an elearning and a research context generally, and Africa specifically. By the end of the session it is hoped that the audience will have developed a deeper appreciation of the strengths of both Open Content and Published, Formal Content. In doing so universities, libraries and publishers will be better placed to work better together in developing the research outputs, skills and capabilities of their respective organizations. Emerald will be launching the eBooks Series Collection and serving more cake… Get involved NOW and join the eLearning Africa 2009 Emerald InTouch Community.
